About DeepLeaf
DeepLeaf is a Moroccan agritech company building agentic AI for agriculture. Our models see a crop and reason like an agronomist, helping farmers, cooperatives, and agricultural partners make timely, practical decisions across many crops, conditions, and languages. Learn more on the DeepLeaf Agronomist and Data Hub pages.
About the role
We're hiring a Robotics & IoT Engineering Intern to help bring DeepLeaf's intelligence into the physical world — connecting sensors, devices, and moving machines to our AI. You'll prototype hardware, wire up IoT data pipelines, and help build robotics that operate in and around real crops.
What you'll do
- Robotics. Design, build, and program robots and motion systems — mechanics, electronics, and control.
- IoT. Connect sensors and devices, move data reliably from the field to the cloud, and help make that data useful.
- Integration. Bring our AI models and agentic workflows onto devices and robots (edge inference, control loops, telemetry).
- Prototype & iterate. Build, test, break, and improve — in the workshop and in the field.
Who we're looking for
This role has a hard requirement: you must have personally built at least one real robotics project and be able to show and talk through it. That can be, for example:
- an XY / gantry system (plotter, CNC, pick-and-place), or
- a 3D printer (built or substantially modified), or
- a robotic arm, or
- a rover / mobile robot.
You should have used ROS (ROS 1 or ROS 2) or a comparable robotics framework, and be comfortable with:
- microcontrollers / single-board computers (Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, Jetson, or similar),
- sensors, actuators, motor control, and basic electronics,
- a programming language for robotics/IoT (Python and/or C/C++).
Bonus: computer vision, MQTT, PCB design, CAD, or edge AI.
Eligibility
Aimed at students and recent graduates. You should be currently enrolled in a university programme (bachelor's or graduate), in your final undergraduate year, or a recent graduate (within about a year).
Languages
- English — required.
- French and Arabic/Darija are a plus.
Location & logistics
- Full-time internship, 6–9 months, in person at the DeepLeaf office in Sidi Bennour, Morocco, with hands-on work in our workshop and in the field.
- You're expected to relocate to Sidi Bennour for the internship; living costs there are low.
- Paid internship — a monthly stipend, all-inclusive, intended to cover your stay (accommodation) and local travel.
Good to know
- Confidentiality and responsible data: you'll handle company, partner, and farmer information with care, consent, and confidentiality.
- Equal opportunity: we welcome applicants of all backgrounds and strongly encourage women and applicants from under-represented groups to apply.
What you'll gain
Hands-on experience building real robotics and IoT for agriculture, mentorship, and a strong portfolio piece, reference, and network for your next step.
How to apply
Use the Apply for this role button on this page. Include links, photos, or videos of the robot(s) you've built — this is the most important part of your application. We review on a rolling basis.
